About

Dr. Lizhe Zhu is an Associate Professor and Presidential Young Fellow at the Arieh Warshel Institute for Computational Biology, School of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, where he also serves as Programme Coordinator of the Undergraduate Programme in Bioinformatics. He earned his Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry from the University of Amsterdam, where he was a Marie-Curie Early Stage Researcher studying the mechanism of allosteric protein receptors via molecular simulation. He then worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology with a focus on the integration of enhanced sampling methods with the framework of Markov State Models. He joined CUHK-Shenzhen in August 2018. Dr. Zhu's research focuses on computational biology, biomolecular simulations, and molecular design, including RNA-protein interactions, the mechanism of RNA/DNA interference, and the development of automated path searching methods and other enhanced sampling techniques. He is also interested in the integration of enhanced sampling and machine learning, the fine rational design of gene-editing enzymes, and the rational design of drug selectivity. He has published 20 papers in recognized journals, such as Physical Review Letters, The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, PLOS Computational Biology, Current Opinion in Structural Biology, and Journal of Computational Chemistry.
